Can I eat on the trains?

Eating, snacking and drinking are allowed on Shinkansen trains, and we recommend to passengers to buy food and drinks at the station prior to boarding.

Before boarding your train, why not grab a delicious ekiben at your departing station? Then hop on and feast, as the Japanese countryside zooms by your window.

Please note that the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen food trolley service is only available to travelers in Green Class, and there is no on-board cafe.
