JR West operates several local JR train lines in Osaka, including the Osaka Loop Line, Yamatoji Line, Sakurajima Line, and Hanwa Line.
The Osaka Loop Line, in particular, encircles the city, connecting major hubs like Osaka Station, Tennoji, and Shin-Osaka Station. You can easily access popular sightseeing spots, such as Osaka Castle, Universal Studios Japan and Umeda, using these trains with your JR Pass.
Aside from JR-operated trains, Osaka boasts an extensive network of private and local lines like the Osaka Metro (including Midosuji Line, Yotsubashi Line, and others), Hankyu Railway, Hanshin Electric Railway, and Kintetsu Railway. These lines are not included in the Japan Rail Pass. To get around Osaka more comfortably, you may want to use another pass to use the subway and/or buses in the city.
We recommend the Osaka Subway and Bus Pass. This pass provides unlimited train travel on all lines of the Osaka Metro and Osaka City Buses, letting you easily visit areas like Dotonbori and Shinsekai, as well as local shrines and temples.
