Royal Mail information

The standard, free shipping option for our UK Japan Rail Pass orders is the second class Royal Mail “Signed For” service.

No information will show on the Royal Mail tracking website once the order is posted, and this is normal. Because it was sent with the “Signed For" service, the tracking information will only change from “We’ve got it” after a delivery has been attempted by your postman.

After a delivery attempt, it will then show as “Delivered”, along with the signature of the person who received it. Or if nobody was available to sign for it after several delivery attempts, the site will show information of where your order is being held, and how to collect it or arrange redelivery.

As the envelopes are sent second class, delivery is usually within a few days, but officially it can take up to two weeks.

We cannot consider an order lost, or open an investigation with Royal Mail, until at least 14 business days after the date it was posted. However, please let us know if it has still not been delivered after this time, and we can start an investigation with Royal Mail and assist you further if required.

If you are travelling to Japan in less than two weeks, we strongly recommend opting for the “Royal Mail Special Delivery” shipping option instead, which is fully tracked and usually delivered the next working day after it’s posted.
