Basics:
- Good morning: Ohayō gozaimasu (おはようございます)
- Good evening: Konbanwa (こんばんは)
- Hello, my name is __ : Konnichiwa, watashi no namae wa __desu (こんにちは、わたしのなまえは__です)
- Nice to meet you: Hajimemashite (はじめまして)
- Thank you : Arigatō gozaimasu (ありがとうございます)
- Thank you for helping me: Tesudattekurete arigatō gozaimasu (てつだってくれてありがとうございます)
- See you later : Matane (またね)
- Excuse me: Sumimasen (すみません)
- I don’t understand: Wakarimasen (わかりません)
- I don’t speak Japanese: Nihongo ga hanasemasen (にほんごがはなせません)
- Yes/No: Hai / iie (はい / いいえ)
- No, thank you (more polite): Kekkō desu (けっこうです)
- Do you speak English?: Eigo ga hanasemasuka? (えいごがはなせます か)
- How are you?: O genki desuka? (おげんきですか)
- I’m fine: Genki desu (げんきです)
Eating out/shopping:
- How much does this cost? : Kore wa ikura desuka? (これはいくらですか?)
- What is this?: Kore wa nan desuka? (これはなんですか?)
- I would like __, please : __o kudasai ( __をください)
- I would like__and__, please : __to __o kudasai ( __と__をください)
- Do you have an English menu?: Eigo no menyuu wa arimasuka? (えいごのメニューはありますか?)
- Thank you for the meal (said before eating): Itadakimasu (いただきます)
- This is delicious: Oishii desu (おいしいです)
- I really enjoyed the meal (said after eating): Gochisōsama deshita (ごちそうさまでした)
- Can I have the bill, please? : O kaikei onegaishimasu (お かいけい おねがいします)
- Cheers!: Kanpai! (かんぱい!)
- Can you translate this?: Yakushite kuremasuka? (やくしてくれますか?)
- Where is the toilet?: Toire wa doko desuka? (トイレはどこですか?)
- Do you accept credit cards?: Kurejittokādo wa tsukaemaska?(クレジットカードはつかえますか?)
